In The Spotlight: Anastasia Souvlis

Anastasia Souvlis is a Gold Coast blogger, who's big on fitness and positivity. You can find her over on her blog, The Girl Edit.

Tell us about yourself and what you do

My name is Anastasia Souvlis. I am a 24 year old personal blogger from the Gold Coast. When I’m not running around snapping cute pics for Instagram or writing for The Girl Edit, you’ll find me generally with a phone to my ear, another in my hand, trying to juggle my coffee. I work 24/7 in a role that must be lived to truly understand what it’s like, specialising in VIP experience tailoring getaways for the best of the best here on the Gold Coast. My role is very consuming so for me Instagram has become an outlet for me to focus on myself.

You've recently started a blog - The Girl Edit - what was your motivation for that?

I’ve always wanted to blog, but my biggest motivation for The Girl Edit was my 17 year old sister, watching her go through adolescence being subject to the influences of todays society terrified me. She showed me an advice page on Facebook and I was like this just isn’t the type of advice girls should be given. I struggled through my teenage years and I wanted to be a positive influence that would have helped me through those awkward times. I wanted to create a place on social media that reflects more than just the highlights, and show that life isn’t always what you see on Instagram.

What does a day in the life of Anastasia look like?

Within my role, each day is completely different- I can plan something and wake up to a text and my whole day has changed. To combat this I try to keep a strict morning routine, waking up to the sound of Taylor swift at 4:30am, heading to the gym and being home again before the suns up. I usually answer my work emails over my first coffee of the day. Then it's time for my morning walk with Chino before tackling my day in the office. At the end of the day I spend most of the night in the kitchen, trying out new things before I head to bed to get some shuteye before it starts over again the next day.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Wow, that’s a tough one! I mean, I have so many inspirations. I feel like in life we collect little bits of everyone and everything we are surrounded by to create who we are. But if I was to pick one person it would be my dad, he’s more like a best friend than a dad. He struggled with Leukemia when he was a teenager so missed out on years of schooling but still has gone on to be very successful in his career. He’s just a regular dad, but he’s damn good at it.

Do you have a favourite quote?

If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.

What's coming up for you in the rest of 2017?

I’m super excited for the rest of this year! There will be a lot of focus on The Girl Edit, the last few months I’ve allowed myself to just do life away from social media; but I’m back and have a bunch of really cool projects that will start to kick off next month. I am also in the midst of planning a 3 month holiday with my sister, so there will be a lot spent scoping Instagram for cool places to eat overseas. Most exciting of all- my two best friends are getting married this year, two weeks apart so as a bridesmaid to both I am loving all that is involved with planning a wedding.

What's your go-to coffee order in the morning?

When it comes to coffee I feel like no one makes my morning coffee as well as I do. Lately I’ve been loving the cappuccinos but with so much chocolate powder it turns into more of a mocha!
